The Industrial Revolution (Advertisement of Products)

Advertisement of Products
The company which made products had their strategies to attract customers to shop in their stores. The entrepreneurs created advertisement in order to prompt the sales. They used different advertisement to make people to shop, to create brand loyalty, and to increase the sales.
The company hired celebrity to show up in their advertisement. Because celebrities were popular, and mostly was atheletes as they were much more popular at that time. The idols' fans were imitating their idol insanely at that time. Imagine Katy Perry (Your favorite singer) started using Cucci in the advertisement, will you also use Cucci in order to imitate your idol? Yes, you will. Therefore, people would use the products if their idols used it in the past. Celebrities were an amazing strategy to attract more customers.
He was Beckham who participated diligently in soccer and got a handsome face, therefore, he was hired to be the advertisement of Emporio Armani (A brand which sold clothes).
It was a celebrity in the past and she was advertising the beverage. However, there was no relationship between the idols and the brand. The company just used the fame of the celebrity to prompt their sales.
The another strategy was showing off body shape in advertisements.  The company hired psychologists to anaylyze human's desire and fear, and the result was the body of their opposite sex. Males were attracted by females' body shapes all the time, especially their breast and butt. And males' muscles were attractive to females as well. Therefore, if the company put either males or females' body to the advertisement would attract the customers. In another way, people wanted to have their body shape, so they would kept shopping until they had that kind of "perfect" shape. However, it was hardly possible because the models on the advertisement did not even eat. Therefore, the sales of the company would be high.
Female's body advertisement

Males' body's advertisement
In the above, almost the entire advertisement was the body shape of a female and a male. But it mentioned only a little bit about the products. There was another type of advertisement similared to it which was using the body shape as the design of products. The company designed it exactly like the body shape to attract the sight of customers.
These advertisements were a insult towards human, because humans' bodies were not created to show off but to respect.
In conclusion, the company started using various advertisement that involved human's body and fames in order to increase their sales and created brand loyalty in the past in America. There were advantages and disadvantages that depends on different perspective.

The Industrial Revolution (Stores)

Stores

At the time, shopping tendency was rapidly increasing in America. People started shopping and got obsessed of it, and do you want to know the reason? Because different kind of stores made them to do so.
Stores were a main reason to make people to shop insanely. Department store was one of the stores that attracted people to go in America at that time. It got various types of products, and it provided your daily stuffs for you to shop. For example, oil, clothes, clock, pan... It was much more efficient to go to the department store instead of local store.
Also, the department stores were created grandly in order to make people to go. Most of the customers were city people and they loved to shop in department stores because it brought supremacy to them in order to show off their high status and wealth in society.
There was another type of stores which was door-to-door delivery. Door-to-door delivery was an efficient stores for rural people in America in the past. The entrepreneurs knew that they got no struggle in the city, so they changed their target to the rural American. It brought stuffs that the people needed in front of their door. There was a company to send magazines to the rural customers once a month. Then, the customers would fill in the forms in the magazines and sent it back to that company. For a while, the company would deliver their desire stuffs in front of the door. It saved a lot of time and energy rather than shopping in department stores. Their products were various as well, and customers liked it so much.

There were two kinds of stores in America in the past. Both of them worked well that targeted to certain customers, and they brought efficiency to the Americans. These stores were a reformation to the shopping strategies. People were not limited to shop in local stores anymore.
However, one of the disadvantages was gradually eliminating the local stores and local skills. Also, the quality of the modern stores was not identified rather than the local stores' products' quality.

People of the Industrial Revolution

Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Scotland.(November 25, 1835 – August 11, 1919) He and his family migrated to United States in his early age. He was always recognized as the second richest man after John D. Rockfeller.
Coincidentally, Carnegie discovered the way to create steel, and then he built Pittsburgh's Carnegie Steel Company. He combined some other steel factories and dominated the U.S. steel. This was a new kind of business management method, horizontal integration. At that time, steel was mostly used in building architecture. Some of the buildings in New York nowadays were made of Carnegie's steel. Telegraph was commonly used at that time as well, because telegraph required steel. As a result, communication between people expanded. A lot of other transportations and communication tools were made of Carnegie's steel.
Carnegie earned a lot of money and he got capital to expand his business then. Therefore, he built all kind of business. For example, he wanted to have a paper factory; so he bought the vertical production line of making paper.
In my opinion, Andrew was a great guy who created 2 kinds of business management methods. Horizontal Integration brought a lot of advantages to the busines, because it dominated the entire business and earned all of the money from it. Vertical Integration was also a intelligent business management method, because it made you to earn more money because you was not influenced by the price of natural resources and other stuffs. He was also a brilliant guy that discovered the steel and produced it in a large quantities. At that time, Carnegie dominated the whole steel industry and benefited in it. As steel was valuable and rare at that time, he discovered the way to make steel, so he could be a millionaire. He also helped the development of United States as steel helped building a lot of architectures and transportation. Tall buildings and railroads were built, so Carnegie dedicated himself in the beginning of the modern age.

Industrial Revolution, New Roles of Women and The Great Depression

From Youtube:
1. Industrial Revolution: General revolutionhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao1fcwjlL3s, Children labor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2M9i1Wy6IU, Invention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-IjHqiUark
2. New Roles of Women: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDOUIm87ygY, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgJGschxSmg&feature=related, fashion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7K5NSBMJr0&feature=related
3. The Great Depression: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYUAZ9iLGYA part 1-6
For industrial Revolution, USA changed their form on this process. USA started to have big business, such as railroad. The railroad spreaded throughout America and modern cities were built near the railroad. Cars gradually grew popular and production of them increased obviously. Telegraph and other inventions emerged. Children labors became popular in USA as well. Since there was not enough workers in the factories, the factories' owners began to hire children labors because they were cheap. Most of the children labors suffered disease or overloaded work. They did not receive necessary education as they worked for the factories' owners with low wages.           Women played an essential role in USA. After the civil war, they had more right to live in USA. The women started to strike for what they desired for. They could even protest on the street. Also, women began to participate in various jobs, for example, doctors, news reporters, chefs, politics etc. Women designed their own fashion. Since women wanted to be pretty, they chased for the latest fashion. They designed something comfortable for themselves, for example, dresses, skirts, boots etc. They even have their hair style. Women dressed nice themselves. Fashion represented independent to the women and not dependent to men.              The Great Depression impacted USA a lot. The economy of Wall street fell in 1829 and the whole America fell. People's life was hard. People rushed to the bank to get their money so banks fell one by one. There were lots of unemployment.             In my opinion, USA did a good job in building big businesses. They knew the way to boost the economy. Railroad dedicated the whole America business. It helped to spread the food and technology. There were lots of great inventions in USA and it helped the industrial revolution as well. However, the Americans did not consider the feelings and future of the children. The American adult demanded them to work with low wages which depicted the children right. They were relentless. Also, the children labors were not allowed to be educated which they could not participate in higher class's jobs in the future. I think the rise of women benefited USA because there were lots of female genius. The women could help develop the politics and economy, even in military. I also think that fashion would separate women and men but making both of them equal. Finally, USA government did not do a good job in managing the whole economy because the Wall street fell and affected the American citizens. The Americans should have considered every elements that affected the economy when they invested. It involved the citizens in America.
